Meet The Noniz

The birth

How The Noniz were born

I was doing a yoga training when I realised that I was done searching for myself. For a long time, I felt like I needed to find who I was supposed to be. But during that training something shifted, and I decided to stop searching. When I stopped, the Noniz appeared. The Noniz are small characters where everyone is allowed to be themselves. They are unique and imperfect. Growing up, I always felt different. I was diagnosed with ADHD and I was always the energetic, jumping kid. I often felt different from the rest. For a long time that felt difficult, but now I realise that this is actually my greatest strength. That is what the Noniz stand for: the courage to be yourself and the courage to be different, because that might be your most beautiful strength.

From these characters, The Noniz Play Method emerged, which explores ten different parts within us. Besides that, I also turn people into their own Noni characters and collaborate with different companies.

Through drawing, I became more myself because it helped me reconnect with who I am. It is my therapy, my creativity, and everything is drawn intuitively.

Who are the Noniz?

The Noniz are playful, childlike characters that are all completely different. They are recognizable by their (big) eyes, tiny feet, their own name and colorful designs. They stand for embracing who you truly want to be: unique, a little weird, and fully yourself. It’s a message the world could definitely use more of.

Nona.

Hi, my name is Nona from the Netherlands, and I wake up with a pen in my hand, doodling everywhere I go. Growing up, I often felt different, but through making art I realized that being different is my superpower.

That’s the message I want to share with #thenoniz.

I’m Nona. Artist, facilitator, and builder of playful worlds for adults. But before any of that, I was someone who forgot how to play. I was doing everything “right.” Healthy habits. Discipline. Growth. Self-development. From the outside it looked balanced. Inside, I was exhausted. At 24, my body forced me to stop. Burnout didn’t ask politely.

That moment changed everything.

  • Art from the inner child
  • Playful, bold, raw
  • Handdraw, imperfect
