Linn: play is more a state of being

Linn: play is more a state of being

We all naturally do it from a very young age.

As a way to learn, discover and enjoy the world. Totally without performance. As we grow, and become more aware of ourselves, it many times becomes more important what other people think. We wanna, and need to, belong.

Many start to care more about how we are perceived, rather than how we feel. Many adults don't move in spontaneous and playful ways, but in the same fixed patterns that became our habit, and often the movement is decided by our mind instead of our body. We maybe become who we believe we have to be as adults.

If you are a person who lost contact with your playful self, I have great news for you. Because you have so much to win and rediscover! Aliveness, vitality, physical and mental health, fun, and boosted creativity are only a few benefits of playing.

You don't need anything to start, except yourself. How would your child self do it? How do you dance for you, when nobody is watching? Express and explore. With and without others. One step at the time. Dare to do something new and unexpected. And watch your life unfold.

For me play is more a state of being rather than doing. A place for spontaneous movement. A way of letting the thoughts wander rather than trying to think my way through. A state of dropping the performance and enjoy.
